    Mama Han's Boat Trips

    Posted by Harters123 14 August 2006

These are NOT for the faint hearted! For $10, get picked up at your hotel and taken on a boat around the beautiful waters of Nha Trang.

Be prepared for a mighty feast, some lethal Vietnamese wine, serious drinking games and a boat full of travellers.

Snorkeling and food/drink is included. It's one hell of an experience.

Ask at any hotel in Nha Trang - they'll know what you mean and help you contact Mama Han.

    Cathedral Square

    Posted by Harters123 14 August 2006

There is nothing better in Havana than sitting in the Cathedral Square. There's a fabulous cafe with white umbrellas. Drink the mojitos and enjoy watching the world go by. It's one of the best views in the city.

In front of the old cathedral in central Havana

    Alter Fuchs

    Posted by Harters123 14 August 2006

A great restaurant tucked away in the new town close to the river. They do wonderful schnitzel and seriously good roast pork. Not great for vegetarians, but great if you want a taste of traditional Austrian fare. Well priced and the service is very friendly. The atmosphere gets better as the evening goes on and more beer is had by all. A great night out.

    La Foce

    Posted by Harters123 14 August 2006

An estate run by the same family for generations. Absolutely spectacular scenery and beautiful old tuscan buildings that have been converted into self catering apartments of all sizes. Their service is astounding. From providing a chef, to helping you with shopping and transport. July sees the estate host an international music festival of brilliant quality in picturesque surroundings.

In the Tuscan countryside, a few miles south of Montepulciano. Visit www.lafoce.com

From Chonqing to Wuhan, the boat ride takes over three days. I used a Chinese passenger ferry which was very basic but clean and well equipped. The views are spectacular. See them before the dam is finished. Be prepared for very few westerners on board but everyone is friendly nonetheless. An unforgettable experience.

Ask in any hotel in Chonqing, or go down to the docks- there is a travel agent there.

    Gap's House

    Posted by Harters123 14 August 2006

This is fantastic! Little huts (some on stilts) just outside the centre. Trees and plants are totally overgrown so you feel like you're in the jungle. A great breakfast is included in the very cheap price and the nice guy who runs it will help you book treks and elephant rides. It's a complete gem.
