Always ask at the counter as they sometimes hide the best to avoid the "collector syndrome". <br><br>Local papers usually have information on current happenings (try <a target="_new" href="http://www.yorkpress.co.uk">www.yorkpress.co.uk</a> and <a target="_new" href="http://www.thisisyork.co.uk">www.thisisyork.co.uk</a> online), or you can do a Google search to find a selection of things to do, so you can plan ahead.<br><br>If you want to check out whether a venue, B&amp;B or hotel is right for you, an internet search for the name +  review often provides excellent customer feedback  information to help you avoid the worst and find the bargains. <br><br>Talk to local residents who are often willing to help with directions, bus routes etc. Try and pick someone who looks local, perhaps in a shop, on a bus or in the pub or coffee bar.]]></description>
