Taxis that you hail from the street are dangerous, particularly around tourist areas. They spot tourists and then fleece you at the nearest cash point. Always call a radio taxi service - there are loads of them. And always insist on air conditioning - you'll need it!

You only get the feel of what a fantastic, beautiful, noisy and classy city it is by walking around. But ALWAYS look down - all pavements are covered in dog shit. The Argentines are serially lazy about being pooper scoopers.
