Arty bit of Manchester much hyped because it is hip.
However whenever we have been it has been pretty dirty: rubbish everywhere, some of it from cafes, has resident winos and smells.
The only good place is The Buddhist Cafe, great value food plus I was called "man" for the 1st time since the 60's.

Mr Scruffs Tea shop in the Northern Quarter.
Nice idea but slow service, so much so that I've never been able to buy anything.

Cafe used by locals mainly. Wide range of dishes, enthusiastic service to the point of forgetting part of my order and incorrectly undercharging another table.
I had the cheese and pickle sandwich which erred on the boring side.
Reminded us of Mrs. Overall's place in Acorn Antiques, especially when one waitress described how she couldn't keep them up because of her arthritis! We could only guess what she was referring to!

Veggie and Vegan Tea Rooms with creaking wooden floors on three levels. We had Welsh rarebit and apricot cheese salad ... delicious, complete with tea, an amazing choice all from the Imperial Teas of Lincoln shop just down the hill.
Wide range of clientele.
