    Pinkas synagogue

Posted by SRGarland 15 November 2005

Was there this weekend. Synagogue set in the Jewish Quarter. The walls are marked in 1cm high writing with the names of all the local Holocaust victims. The walls are covered. It is a sobering, astonishing thing to witness. Sounds morose but I can't see any point to visiting Prague without seeing this.

    Fontana

If you're staying at the Hotel Diplomat, this is within walking distance.

    Restaurant:
2 large shark steaks, with cream+onion potatoes
    4 x 0.5L + 0.2L beer
    1 shot of something vodka-ish
    1 garlic bread
    1 mineral water

    approx £12.50

Very nice, low lighting, high ceilings (to get away from the endemic cigarette smoke) open hearth and 1/4 of the price of the tourist zone.

Corner of V.P. akalova and Narodny obrany
