    Greystoke Cycle Cafe

Posted by SuziWrites 28 May 2012

The most delicious cake and welcome cup of tea on a cool and wet day at Annie's kitchen table will bring a smile to anyone's face. Set-up as cycle cafe (you can park in the village if you really need too), there is also a wonderful tea garden for those non-rainy Cumbrian days and Annie hosts a great range of 'Quirky Workshops' - we loved the spoon carving course, but it's the lunch that sticks in my mind. Whether you're doing the Coast-to-Coast cycle route or travelling up the M6 - you must drop in.

    Caleta de Famara

Posted by SuziWrites 27 April 2012

The small fishing village of Caleta de Famara, on the north west coast of Lanzarote, is everything the bustling south coast isn't. A haven from the tourists spots, it has one of the longest stretches of sandy beach on the island, which is surrounded by the stunning backdrop of plunging cliffs. The village itself has just a few small restaurants. Restaurante Sol doesn't look much from the outside, but the fresh fish is delightful so don't be deceived by its exterior!

    Le Quillé ice cream parlour

Posted by SuziWrites 15 April 2012

A perfect day out from Marseille or Aix-en-Provence is a trip to the beach followed by ice cream. But these aren't just any beaches and ice creams. The bay of local choice is the little fishing village of Carry-le-Rouet, 20 miles from Marseille. Happily spend a day on the beach, nestled at the bottom of burnt orange cliffs, with the garigue and pine trees providing a pretty backdrop or a great place for a shady stroll. When the sun becomes too much, head for the hilltop town of Miramas le Vieux and the most amazing ice cream parlour, Le Quillé, to enjoy the warmth, views and flavours of Provence.
