If you want to stay somewhere which will be quiet at night (because you prefer sleeping to partying all night), pick a residential/working area like Moabit, instead of the more obvious tourist & clubbing areas.

If you live with a disability (or with somebody who has one) you'll know why. A lot of accommodation which is described as "disabled accessible" or "rollstuhlgerecht" or "seniorengerecht" includes an overbath shower instead of a walk/roll in shower.

It's amazing - all day long you struggle to walk (if you can do so at all), and yet supposedly you can throw yourself in and out of the bath with no difficulty at all :rolls eyes:

A shop where you can find something affordable and more or less fashionable, no matter what your age, shape or size.

A large clothing shop with the usual adult and children's stuff, then there's thermals, outdoor wear, petites, plus size women, plus size women petites, plus size men, tall men... and the staff are relatively cheerful without being fake about it.

Access for disabled people, elderly people, cyclists, anyone with a dog, or anyone with luggage.

In London maybe one eighth of the underground has step free access: In Berlin almost one eighth of the S Bahn and U Bahn (overground and underground) hasn't got step free access! The lifts are smooth to stop & start, and large enough to fit a bike, or a large pram as well as a few more people. Most of the platforms have no gap if they're at a "barriere frei" station and v minimal height difference (maybe a couple of inches at worst, but nowhere near the size of gaps on the London underground!).
