    Silver Lattice Guest House

Posted by ghassenpflug 26 October 2008

Well-kept three-star place on a quiet street under the Table Mountain, three blocks from Company's Garden and two from Gardens shopping centre.

    Botany Bay Bed & Breakfast

Posted by ghassenpflug 26 October 2008

Durbanesque ambience with museum touches and a convivial host originating from Manchester. Happily planted adjacent to the main gate of Durban's Botanic Garden, and two blocks from a large mall in a 'safe' section. Also three blocks from the flats (now gone) where I lived in 1947 with my American family: the garden's giant ficus trees (still there) seem to have shrunk.

    Doll House drive-in restaurant

Posted by ghassenpflug 26 October 2008

I was amazed to find this relic of the old South Africa not only still standing but serving exactly the same banana malts (with fresh fruit) and hamburgers as in 1949, when I lived here as a kid with my American family.
