This is a central Australian must see. An award winning, well set-out park that offers a great insight into desert ecosystems (much richer than most realise), aboriginal land use and amazing animal displays. Entrance is not cheap, but it’s a sophisticated, full-day experience.
You can get there by shuttle bus from most hotels and guesthouses in town. You could hire a bike (20 minute ride from centre) or walk (about 40mins, 6kms); www.alicespringsdesertpark.com.au/

Remarkably fresh oysters - some taken from the water the morning they are served - available any way you can think of and shucked (opened) fresh after you order. The best clam chowder I have ever had - made with fresh clams as well as other great cooked seafood meals. All set looking over the harbour amidst some other fine restaurants. Best eating I have had in three months of travelling.

Hip hotel near the Town Hall. Great rooms with modern features - the Danish touch. Breakfast (on the 6th floor with great views) was included on our deal - of which the best seemed to be on the Hotels website.
