An interesting district to explore, with lots of art nouveau and art deco buildings, especially by Guimard and Le Corbusier.
Metro Jasmin or Ranelagh
A modern park, very architectural and different from traditional parks. Lots of fountains and greenhouses and a good place to spend a quiet Sunday morning with the family.
Metro Balard. Near Quai Andre Citroen, west of the Tour Eiffel
A slightly more upmarket street with some interesting shops and architecture. There are several shops selling children's and baby clothes etc (and a very good ice cream/sorbet shop at the end of the street near to the Luxembourg Gardens). An interesting extension to walking round the Gardens.
Rue Vavin. Metro Notre Dame de Champs or Vavin.
Fabric shop - for a wonderful selection of all kinds of fabric, patterns and haberdashery. It's the sort of shop you don't find in England any more, situated just below the Sacre Coeur in a quarter which features many fabric shops. Very helpful staff and the place has a buzz about it.
3 & 5, Place St. Pierre. Tel 46.06.02.31.
Travel on metro line 6, which in many places is elevated and gives good views of the surroundings. Take it over Bir Hakeim bridge to Passy station and then stroll back over the river, which gives wonderful views across to the Tour Eiffel.
