It's hard to find a list of cheap accommodation in Heraklion, Crete.
I usually stay at Rent Rooms Hellas, a quiet hostel within walking distance of the port.
There is a small bar on the roof where you can get a beer or glass of wine and talk to other travellers.
The hostel is quiet and cheap.

If you're downtown in the Brickell area, check out Provence Grill. It is hard to find good food in Brickell, but this is an exception. Lunch was about $35 per person. Service was great.
If travelling to Miami on a budget the new Jazz on South Beach hostel at 321 Collins Ave is a good bet. It's close to the beach and has ensuite bathrooms.
It was formerly the Hotel Atlantica, but was converted into a hostel recently. It's in a quiet section of South Beach Miami, but is still within walking distance to the clubs.
321 Collins Avenue.

I've been to Nexxt twice and the food is great. The menu is huge, the portions are huge. Meal for two for between $40 and $80.
Note: check your bill carefully because our waiter added charges for things we didn't order. Despite that I went back and would return again.

For a great cheap place to stay on the Upper West Side of Manhattan, I like Jazz on the Park Hostel. I was only there for two nights but thoroughly enjoyed the pub crawl and the great location.
I try to eat as much pho as possible and I'm always looking for new pho restaurants. The only place that I've found in South Beach that serves pho is Sushi Saigon on Washington Ave.
For about $12 you can have a giant bowl of beef noodle soup. Service is very friendly. The pho is very good, even though it lacks beef tendons and tripe.
It's often difficult to find good Mexican food, and it's often difficult to find good food in South Beach period. But Lime Fresh Mexican Grill on Alton Road is a fantastic exception. I highly recommend the chicken mole burritos for about US$8. It's great food on a budget.
When I was in Rethymno, Crete in 2001 I was told about a hostel in a village called Plakias that I should go visit. I went down to Plakias and ended up staying for weeks, and returned several times over the next few years. There is great snorkeling and hiking within walking distance of the hostel. This is one of the best hostels I've been to in many years of travelling.
