I recently had the opportunity to visit the new (or renovated) Musée des Arts Decoratifs here in Paris. Set just next to the Louvre on the rue du Rivoli, it has taken the arts & crafts movement to the next level.
Next to 14th century glassware or pottery, you'll see exhibited a similar item made last year. But it's not just about pottery and chairs, the toy exhibit is incredible!
The museum is really well laid out to keep one's interest - is small enough that it doesn't take you all day - and close to many of the other "must see" sights of Paris to make it worth the visit. To get a feel of the variation of the museum, go here: www.parisdailyphoto.com/2007/04/muse-des-arts-dcoratifs.html

If you're planning a trip to Mumbai, be sure to first check out Mumbai Daily Photo to get a glimpse from the locals. "slaint", "dissenter", and "ljw/jlm" are bloggers that bring to you a photo a day of this intriguing city.
From the guy who sits on the side of the road near Khar subway every day making chatai (woven mats, blinds, and baskets) to the beautiful sari'ed women to the so predictable monsoon that there's no need to have a weather report, this team goes out of their way to show the way of life.

Straight from the heart of Boston comes young Alex with an interesting story and photo of Boston each week. BostonWeeklyPhoto, as he calls his blog, offers an insight to things you might miss if you stick to the guide books.
Alex has a little of everything - from the Robbins Memorial Flagstaff describing the story of how Squaw Sachem sold her land to the colonist John Winthrop for a few shillings and a woolen coat every winter for the rest of her life to the magnificent Bates Hall, part of the Boston Public Library and the first free municipal library in the world.
The comments left by his visitors are very interesting and a great source to find out more about this fantastic city.

"One Auckland Photo a Day" is a blog by Lachezar Karadjov which shows us this wonderful city with a new picture each morning/night... depending on your perspective!
Not a lot of text, but an active group of commentors, it's a great place to find things that you wouldn't normally know to look for.

LondonDailyPhoto is where I go when I want to know in a snapshot what the city is really about! One of the first five blogs created after the Paris version, the author, "Ham", gives the reader a great stroll around the city to see things you might normally miss. Of course, all without getting wet!

Part of the phenomena of daily photo blogs started by Eric in Paris, BrightonDailyPhoto is a blog specifically about Brighton which features a photo a day with a short commentary. It's a great way to discover the stuff that doesn't appear in travel books.

Sydney (nearly) DailyPhoto is a blog written by Sally, an "opinionated, didactic, dogmatic, organising, obsessive, ranting loon." according to her.
Through Sally's eyes, you can see a photo of Sydney each day along with a short commentary and an active comment section.
Everything from where to find the statue of "that doughty Yorkshireman" Captain Cook, to where to find the Olympic rings from the 2000 games.
Really worth a visit before your trip - pose a question to Sally and find out if she's really a ranting loon!

The Bahia Cabana is both a hotel (Days Inn) and bar on the south end of Ft. Lauderdale beach. My recommendation is more about the ambiance of the tiki bar than the accommodation, so don't go staying there based on my comments! "Beach Resort" is a stretch if you ask me.
However...
It is truly one of the last remaining, typical Ft. Lauderdale beach bars. Famous for their "rum-runner" drinks (ok, who isn't?) it also is a relaxing and fun atmosphere to wind down your day. Sitting alongside Fort Lauderdale's largest boat marina, you can watch the day come to an end as people bring their boats back in, unload their fish (or suntan lotion) and discuss very easily with the locals.
If you go to their website, it looks like a dump I have to say, but do stop and have one drink if you're in the area. I guarantee you'll stay for two!

If you're going to Austin and want to really be prepared, see it from a local's perspective, be sure to see Austin Daily Photo first.
Shadrach, Si, and Alice give us a unique insight into this Texas town with a photo each day depicting the "real Austin".
Everything from Artz Rib House (their "most favourite barbecue place in the whole of Austin") to a visit to the Electric Ladyland/Lucy in Disguise with Diamonds, a truly unique vintage clothing store.
ParisDailyPhoto is a blog that I found which shows us a photo a day of the city of lights, without being too touristy. I love the insight the author gives to things as basic as a traffic light, a cafe, or even the little green men responsible for cleaning the streets. Well worth a visit before your next trip.
