A bar specialising in beer - but not the usual fare from large brewers or multinationals. Yes, it does offer these brands but its speciality is more obscure (in the UK at least) beers form smaller foreign brewers - Kolsch, eastern European, etc. Friendly atmosphere, spacious inside, and nice views of the world going by. Try!
Candleriggs, Merchant City, Glasgow G1
Modern hotel in old traditional area of Smithfield but only a ten-minute walk from all of city centre attractions. Spacious and colourful rooms, many with great views over Smithfield market area. Attractive local pubs, and area is undergoing regeneration. Excellent midweek rates.
Smithfield - on Luas Red Line. Adjacent to Jameson Distillery.
This spacious bar is in a former sausage factory. Bench seating makes it great for large groups of people to talk, as there is no TV or loud music. The amazing, tapas-style food is reasonably priced and excellent for both carnivores and vegetarians. The bar attracts locals and not too many tourists.
14a Fade Street, just a few minutes east of Grafton Street
If you want to have drink spoiled by camera-wielding tourists, this is the place for you! Hopefully you will have no need to avail of toilet facilities - they are still in the Victorian age. This establishment's claim to fame is that it's "unspoiled" since it was built - do you really want to drink in Dickens' time?
