    The Peak Pantry, Eyam

Posted by rachelcotterill 27 March 2009

Fantastic coffee and delicious cakes in a perfectly quaint little teashop. Not cheap, but worth every penny.

Eyam (don't know the road but it's in the middle of this very tiny village!)

    Leopold Hotel

Posted by rachelcotterill 27 March 2009

Smart, stylish hotel in the new Leopold Square development. Nice rooms, good breakfast (buffet or a-la-carte options), close to a selection of nice restaurants. Service was friendly, verging on the over-fussy side (e.g. personal items 'tidied' within the room, but to be fair, when I left a note expressing a preference that my things be left as I had arranged them, this subsequently stopped).

    Iceland's Route 1

Posted by rachelcotterill 22 March 2009

Iceland's Route 1, the main road in the country, is a circular route just designed for a road trip. We did it by bicycle, but a car is also effective - just watch out for sections on the eastern coasts which aren't yet fully tarmacked. If you follow the whole route you'll pass through Europe's largest desert as well as passing glaciers, icebergs, and spectacular coastline. Good, cheap pizzas can be found at many of the island's petrol stations along the way!

    Around the outside of Iceland.

    Al Andalus

Posted by rachelcotterill 16 March 2009

Tasty tapas selections - with window seats enabling great people-watching. The lunchtime platters are great value at £7.50 for a varied and filling selection (the veggie one comes highly recommended), or pick from the menu if you want more control.
