Great views of the Lake District mountains, a wonderful valley after first climb and a lesser walked route, so no busy crowds.

A great one or two day walk with fantastic views, bracing climbs and a great overnight camp.

It also gives you a rare chance to be at top of Scafell Pike on your own if you leave it to quite close to sunset - a rare thing.

A great winter walk, with long times without meeting other people, a classic ascent, and some stunning scenery.

B6160 to head of Littondale from A65, then 10 miles up valley to village of Litton.

A great walk with everything: country lanes, steep ascents, fantastic views from the top of the Ingleborough, a pub for lunch halfway, and a spectacular finale over Twistleton Scars and down the waterfall walks.

30 miles from Skipton on A65 towards M6, park at Ingelton

    Walking the nine edges challenge

Posted by santobugito 30 September 2008

It's a walk from Ladybower Reservoir to near Baslow in aid of Edale Mountain Rescue. The walk is along the nine main edges in the valley. A great view and day out for a great cause.

You can find details for event on www.nineedges.co.uk

    A walk around the Howgills

Posted by santobugito 18 September 2008

The Howgills are an oft-ignored area, nestled between its larger cousins, the Lakes and the Dales. Great scenery, lovely walking. A nice base town at Sedbergh, with good food and pubs.

Take Junction for Kirby Lonsdale off M6 and then turn right following signs, or via A65

This area has fantastic walking, nice drives and plenty to explore. The resort is lively, but not too lively, has great food and bars, and a great fiesta in July. Great for a family holiday.

I've put a more detailed guide up on the link belowhttp://www.seanliquorish.co.uk/blog?p=7
