I love Singapore, have been four times and can't get enough of it, it's such an amazing place, but just to make you aware that the pollution in the city is a nightmare - you feel like you want to have an oxygen mask attached to you all the time. Car fumes and humidity make it so bad so beware that you do have to get used to it.
Another tip on the other side of the coin is the cleanliness, A*, no litter anywhere and hefty fines if seen littering. It's nice to go to such a place that continues to have high standards of street cleanliness.
All over the city
Very well known hotel, very expensive to stay there but a must for anyone on a visit to Singapore is afternoon tea and a Singapore sling in the lobby area of the Raffles Hotel. It's one of those fantastic experiences and a defo must. Dress smartly.
Very local to city, just ask any locals who are very friendly to direct you.

Lovely shopping road during day but really comes to life at nightime. I arrived at one in morning but couldn't resist taking a stroll and was just mesmerised. Street stall atmosphere just out of this world - on my own and very safe even at that time.
A fab place a short way out of the city, good bus route straight there. Kind of theme park which is excellent and fantastic beach and hotels, if you can have a night there defo recommend it.
Just a short bus ride out of the city

Used to live there - fab place, 5 minute walk out of big bustling city, nice restaurants, boutiques and coffee shops. Laid back way of life out of fast pace of city.
Turn left at bottom of Queen Street and then follow road round, up big hill and there you are - it's a great place to have a slow stroll around eating drinking and viewing things and especially people watching.
