Lysy Pingwin/ugglan, a bar and restaurant is still something of a well kept secret. It hosts many varying international and local musical talents. Jazz, electronic, experimental, arty...

Lysy Pingwin/ugglan is a labyrinthine series of rooms on basement level. Dark and cosy, eclectically decorated. One of the most interesting features of the place is the presence of pingpong tables and boule. A large room, (most likely a former residential car park) allows many teams or individuals to get some exercise after a meal or over a few drinks.

Those visiting Stockholm now that the weather is getting warmer should visit Lasse i Parken on Södermalm. Lasse i Parken is by day an open air cafe. Lots of long wooden tables shaded by trees, or little round cafe tables in the sun nestled among flower beds. They do a decent line in sandwiches, cakes etc. Last season they also had a good lunch buffé. The main attraction however is sitting in the sun in a kind of old fashioned milieu. They also have theatre/comedy/music events in the evenings. Opens for the spring/summer in april. Drop by on the way to or from Långholmen, an island/peninsula nearby formerly used as a prison, now a popular beach and bathing spot for Stockholm's inhabitants. Långholmen is great for picnics along the islands treelined coast.
