    Albarracin

Posted by susannahje 13 June 2012

Albarracin is one of the most breathtaking but least-known small towns in Spain. The amazing ruined fortress defies health and safety by not fencing off any of its vertiginous walls. Unspoiled by commerce, but with plenty of restaurants, the beautiful old town is just 15 minutes walk away from the municipal campsite. There are Roman cave paintings locally and the area was known to El Cid. Albarracin is set high up in the Universale mountains and overlooks the Guadalivar river. There are plenty of walking and climbing opportunities locally.
