Cheaper than the hotels and better situated if you're weekending, you can get a self-catering apartment for as little as 50 euros a night, right in the heart of the old town. Especially good value if there are two or more of you. There are several agencies, but this one has a good variety.
Just what you need after a hard night: brunch served under a veranda on Ocean Drive, looking through the palm trees to the sea. Superior diner food and good service. There's sometimes a queue, but it moves quickly.

This steakhouse isn't cheap, but sit outside and the view is spectacular: the southernmost tip of South Beach, looking across the port. At sundown, the giant cargo ships cruise by silently. A calm respite from the hedonism occurring half a mile further north.

Travel around town on the underground. It's cheap, the stations are dotted all over the place and, most importantly, many of the stations are spectacular monuments to the slave labour that built them. Marvel at the chandeliers, the enormous statues, the weird Stalinist architecture and the murals of happy workers.
