If you really want a wonderfully decadent experience stay at the "Nellie".

The rooms are huge and well appointed, the service is out of this world and the location is exquisite.
Not cheap but an experience in one of the best hotels I've ever stayed in

A very good restaurant on the Victoria and Alfred Waterfront.
Good food, good service and very reasonably priced.
Need to book at weekends as the place is buzzing.

Not as crowded as the Empire State. Travel to the top is more interesting and the balconies at the top are better and the views are just as enthralling.
Plus you get a good sighting of the Empire State.
