Power failures are not infrequent in Koh Samet - the locals have torches to deal with such outages, but because batteries are relatively expensive, they seldom have any!

For this reason, clockwork radios and torches (such as the 'Freeplay' ones, readily available in the UK) are extremely attractive and can often be used when bartering for other goods and services, in my experience!

The Alcron Hotel has a long history and Radisson have sympathetically restored it to to create a fantastic five-star venue in the centre of Prague at the famous Wenceslas Square.

I especially recommend the 'Be-Bop' bar on the first floor, which has one of the only live Jazz sessions in Prague on Friday, Saturday and Sunday nights.
